Discover a hidden gem in the heart of Crete at The Banana Garden, a delightful cafeteria located in Preveli, Fabrica, Myrthianos Plakias. This charming oasis is more than just a stop for refreshments; it’s an experience that engages all your senses, nestled among lush greenery where tranquility reigns supreme.

The Banana Garden specializes in a limited yet carefully curated menu that ensures each item is of the highest quality. Customers rave about the Greek salad, said to be the best in Crete, bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors from locally sourced produce. Pair this with one of their delicious smoothies—a favorite among visitors seeking refreshment after a day at the beach. If you’re in the mood for something unique, don’t miss out on their freshly prepared iced coffee, perfect for cooling down. Enjoy these delectable dishes surrounded by the warm and inviting atmosphere created by the friendly hosts.

Walking into The Banana Garden feels like being welcomed into a friend’s home. The enthusiastic owner takes immense pride in showcasing the garden’s bounty, including bananas, mangoes, and more. Each visit becomes an enriching experience; as Adriana Gajdošová beautifully shares, you’ll find yourself in a haven where genuine conversation flows as smoothly as the fresh juices. Enjoy your meal while mingling with the charming free-roaming animals that contribute to this unique ambiance, making every bite not only a taste of local cuisine but also a memorable moment with nature.

The warmth of the hosts is palpable, as echoed by Chandler Doerre, who fondly recalls their visit as a highlight of their honeymoon. The owner’s passion for his farm and commitment to providing a genuine experience resonates deeply with all who pass through, reminding us that the best connections often form in the simplest settings.

However, note that cash is the only accepted form of payment, a small inconvenience for such a delightful experience. As Goswijn Meijs expressed, this family-owned venture is truly a “nice oasis” worth stopping by whether you're in search of a quick bite or a deeper understanding of Cretan farming.

If you’re on your way to the beach or exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Crete, make sure to include The Banana Garden in your itinerary. It promises not only delicious food but also a slice of rural life that’s hard to find elsewhere. Don’t miss the opportunity to share in the beauty of this serene environment; as Carolyn Todd mentions, it’s a must-visit. You’ll leave not just with a satisfied palate but with cherished memories of a truly refreshing experience.

The perfect off-the-beaten-path pit stop for a refreshment or light meal/snack before or after the beach. Such kind, friendly people. Delicious, fresh smoothies and food. (Best Greek salad we had in Crete.) Beautiful natural surroundings. And the friendly animal life of course! They also sell yummy little soaps and creams. Don’t miss it!

Nice “oasis” in between things. Super enthusiastic host, proud on his bananas, mango, sweet potatoes, oranges and much more. Limited but good quality food and drink menu for (the usual) very affordable prices. Only minor inconvenience is one can pay in cash only. We enjoyed out lunch break with this lovely little family here very much!

Very unique place, the hosts are genuinely nice people, they made us feel very welcome, we talked about life, we ate fresh fruits and delicious iced coffee among turkeys and hens. :) It was really nice. If you are fond of truly natural and serene environments, I definitely recommend this place. Thank you for this refreshing experience. Hope you are doing well.

A bit funny to say this was one of the favorite parts of our honeymoon!! We kind of stumbled upon this place and man am I glad we did!! The owner is such a sweetheart, very passionate and loving the life he lives there and I can see why. He immediately greeted us and gave us a tour of his garden with bananas, mango, avocado, strawberries and more! We LOVED Michail , he follows the owner around like a dogthe strawberry banana smoothie was amazing, best omelette’s we had in Crete. He even gifted us some soap and beeswax! Only have good things to say about this place!!

Family owned farm. They also serve food. We got to eat fresh ripe guava right off the tree! They have free roaming chickens and a turkey, amongst a whole bunch of other animals. Nice place to go if you’re passing through and would like to know more about the farming in crete.

Original nature experience with FRESH fruit juices! [Bring cash!!] Highly recommended activity! Yiannis and his family have created a small oasis next to the river with plantation of exotic fruits, chickens, turkeys and a horse, all roaming free! It’s a cool place under the shade of the trees where you can enjoy fresh water from the spring, fresh fruit juices and home made food. We didn’t eat when we first visited but it all looked delicious! It looks like a great place to bring kids along too (although bringing strollers over the wooden bridge doesn’t seem convenient) They also make their own beeawax creams (κερατοειδές) with strong flower smells that help keep mosquitos away. Worth a try! POS doesn’t work properly because of bad reception so make sure you have cash. We will be back for sure!

Trully unique little place definitely worth visiting. We ordered fresh juice made from their own produce, that is in season. Very friendly owners.
